With regret, the 2020 Texas Youth Race Week will not be held at this time.  Alternate dates have not been chosen given the increasing level of uncertainty around the spike in Coronavirus cases in the region.

Event organizers at both HYC and LYC have given consideration to the impact on each club’s membership, our desire to continue as a welcoming respite throughout the upcoming months, our staff and volunteers, as well as our young sailors and their families.

The 2021 Texas Youth Race Week will be the 30th anniversary of this event, first held in 1991 as the Galveston Bay Tri-Club Regatta, and we can’t wait!

The 2020 Texas Youth Race Week was originally scheduled for July 10-12, 2020 as a three day regatta. All Optimist fleets were to compete at Houston Yacht Club, and all Laser and double handed classes were to compete at Lakewood Yacht Club.

History

Texas Youth Race Week began in 1991 as the Galveston Bay Tri-Club Regatta, but it traces its origins back to the first invitational Ragnot Regatta of 1961. TYRW was designated a US SAILING Junior Olympic event in 1997. The 2017 Texas Youth Race Week marked 20 years as a US SAILING Junior Olympic event.
